Experienced Fishing Deckhand

We are currently seeking a hardworking and reliable Deckhand to join our commercial fishing trawler working out of Greymouth. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a team environment, and is prepared for the physical demands of life at sea. As a key member of the crew, you will assist with fishing operations, deck duties, and vessel maintenance to ensure safe and efficient trawling operations. Key responsibilities will be; Shooting and hauling trawl gear for both bottom and mid-water trawling; Assisting with handling, sorting, storing, and unloading the catch; Maintaining cleanliness and safety of the deck area; Cleaning, maintaining, and preparing fishing gear; Assisting with net mending and general gear repairs; Supporting wheelhouse watchkeeping duties as required; Ensuring catch is handled according to industry standards; Complying with all on-board camera monitoring rules while on deck
Job Requirements
Previous commercial fishing experience is required with a QFDH; Reliable, motivated, and physically fit individual; Comfortable working at sea and in all weather conditions; A positive attitude and strong work ethic

- Days and time are variable due to weather and nature of job. Usually out to sea on Mondays back onshore the following Monday. (56 hours per week)
