Butchery Knife Hand Assistant

New World Supermarket, Green Bay, are looking for a Butcher Knife Hand Assistant that would like to join the Butchery team. If you are someone that has an interest in butchery, ready to give it a go to see if you can make a career out of it, or if you are someone that already has experience in butchery and wants to take their learning further this could be the role for you!

Duties involve: • Support the butchers in preparing meat, traying up product, and replenishing the store. • Ensure a high standard of quality and presentation through the department at all times of the day. • Work towards furthering your career in butchery by working with two very experienced Butchers. • Ensure Food Safety standards are maintained, through completion of appropriate cleaning, temperature checks and traceability forms. • Maintain the highest standards of Quality and presentation, ensuring all products are fresh and visually appealing at all times of the day. • Engage with customers to understand and fulfil their needs. • Ensure all products are correctly trayed, wrapped and labelled in accordance with compliance. • Ready to join a high performing team that focuses on providing great customer service.

If you have experience in butchery or as a knife hand, with strong knife skills and good customer service abilities, we would love to hear from you.

• Early morning starts from 5.00am • Must have some knife hand experience ideally 2 to 4 months. • Must have a Full drivers’ licence and own transport for 5.00am start or able to get to Supermarket by 5am. • Someone that is hard working, reliable and passionate, about working in this industry. • Someone that is great at following instructions, enjoy hands on learning. • Someone with a keen eye for quality and presentation. • You need to be able to support butchers in preparing, packing, and replenishing all meat types (Beef, Chicken, Pork, Lamb, & Fish). • Someone that is prepared to work in a refrigerated environment. • Experience in butchery and knife skills is an advantage. • A fantastic attitude, work ethic and passion for making a workplace great. • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills. • Pass a drug test. • Pass MOJ check , no criminal convictions. • Pass a credit check. • Hold New Zealand Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a valid New Zealand open work visa.
