Job Description
Poutokomanawa supports whanau affected by family violence and sexual violence, helping them move safely along their healing, wellbeing and empowerment journeys. This role provides a structured learning pathway for developing practitioners, combining guided learning and supervised practice to build confidence, capability and understanding within the family violence and sexual violence sector.
Job Requirements
• Respond to individuals or whanau affected by family or sexual violence under the guidance of a supervisor or senior practitioner. • Follow up referrals and make initial contact with whanau when required. • Maintain a strong safety first approach in all work. • Support whanau to identify their goals, priorities and pathways to safety and wellbeing. • Gather information and resources to support whanau needs such as housing, food, financial support, counselling and community services. • Answer incoming phone calls, record accurate messages and ensure timely follow up. • Respond to general enquiries from whanau, agencies and the public in a friendly and professional manner. • Make phone calls to whanau to check in, confirm details and provide updates or support. • Arrange appointments with services, agencies or whanau as guided by the supervisor. • Prepare documents for database entry and complete general administrative tasks to support daily operations. • Attend home visits or outreach appointments with a supervisor or senior practitioner. • Observe and learn from experienced practitioners during client engagements, meetings and case discussions. • Work closely with Poutokomanawa, Family Focus staff and partner agencies to support whanau safety and continuity of care. • Facilitate smooth transitions for whanau between services or stages of support. • Maintain positive relationships with local providers including Maori and iwi organisations, childrens services, mental health, addiction, counselling and parenting supports. • Participate in regular supervision, professional development and reflective practice. • Contribute to team learning, feedback and service improvement activities. • Attend fortnightly staff meetings and team huddles.

Essential Requirements
• Passionate about supporting whanau safety and positive outcomes. • Successfully completes NZ Police vetting. • Respects confidentiality and safe information sharing practices. • Works collaboratively with other agencies and the wider community to support safety and wellbeing.
