Regional Health Advisor – Northland Te Tai Tokerau

The Regional Health Advisor provides specialist health expertise to strengthen employment and wellbeing outcomes for people with health conditions, injuries, or disabilities. This is a regional advisory role.
The chosen candidate will work alongside Service Delivery leaders and frontline teams to ensure health-related factors are well understood, appropriately considered, and translated into sustainable employment pathways.
This role does not hold a caseload. Your impact will be at a systems, practice, and capability level.
You will: • Provide evidence-based advice on how health conditions, injury, or disability may impact work capacity and sustainability • Interpret medical and clinical information and translate it into practical employment guidance • Build staff capability through coaching, workshops, and case consultation • Provide specialist input into entitlement and service decisions where health factors are relevant • Identify regional trends and provide insights and recommendations to leadership • Contribute to service design and programme development where health barriers exist • Build strong relationships across the health and disability sector • Travel within the Northland region as required This role sits within a national network of Regional Health Advisors, contributing to consistent, high-quality practice across MSD.
Location: Northland Region – flexible base location, subject to discussion at interview. Reporting to: Manager Regional Services
Job Requirements
• Clean Full Driver’s Licence Class 1 • A recognised health qualification (e.g. Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Registered Social Worker, or similar) • Current professional registration and Annual Practising Certificate (where applicable) • Experience working with people experiencing health-related barriers to employment • Strong advisory, influencing, and relationship-management capability • Confidence facilitating professional discussions and capability-building activities • Ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, evidence-based advice • A collaborative, culturally responsive approach aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi
