Chef de Partie – Thorndon (Immediate Start)

An exciting opportunity is now available for a talented Chef de Partie to join our English-style cafe and restaurant in Thorndon. We’re looking for someone ready to jump in and start ASAP, bringing skill, energy, and a passion for great pub-style food.

This is a full-time role with a mix of weekday and weekend shifts. You’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality, comforting pub meals in a fast-paced yet friendly environment where teamwork is everything.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Preparing and cooking menu items to a consistently high standard

Maintaining quality, presentation, and portion control

Upholding food safety and hygiene standards at all times

Contributing ideas for menu development and daily specials

Managing stock, prep, and minimising waste

Working efficiently as part of a supportive, close-knit team

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience as a chef (pub or casual dining experience preferred)

The ability to stay calm under pressure — even when the docket machine has other plans

Strong time management and organisational skills (because great food deserves great timing)

Solid knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices

Reliable, flexible, and available to work weekends

A positive attitude and a genuine passion for good food
