Senior Upholsterer

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Upholsterer to join our team in Glen Eden.
Upholsterers make and repair upholstery for automobiles, aircraft, and household furniture. Their job is to select the correct materials for the job and upholster items according to the design specifications. They may also work to restore and refurbish items such as couches, chairs, and car seats.
As an Upholsterer, you will meet with clients or design agents to discuss project requirements, recommend suitable materials, and complete upholstery work to precise specifications. You may also be responsible for dismantling and rebuilding furniture as part of the reupholstering process.
Responsibilities include:
* Meeting with clients and design agents to discuss upholstery ideas. * Interpreting design orders and creating upholstery stencils. * Selecting and sourcing upholstery materials. * Dismantling furniture for upholstery preparation. * Measuring and cutting leather or fabric with the aid of design stencils. * Installing foam and batting to the furniture framework. * Installing and repairing furniture webbing and seating springs. * Stretching out and installing fabric or leather coverings. * Stitching, gluing, and nailing fabric into place. * Smoothing out imperfections. * Conducting quality checks on completed orders.

Job Requirements
* High school qualification or equivalent * Proven experience working as an Upholsterer * In-depth knowledge of modern upholstery techniques and materials * Strong attention to detail with the ability to visualise and interpret design concepts * Demonstrated ability to translate client ideas into high-quality finished furnishings * Solid design and craftsmanship skills * Ability to draw, read, and interpret design templates and specifications * Proficient in the use of upholstery tools and equipment, including hot knives, nail guns, and industrial sewing machines * Physically fit and capable of lifting, pulling, and manoeuvring heavy furniture * Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and walk for extended periods (up to eight hours per day) * Must be able to undergo and pass a drug test and Ministry of Justice check * Hold a Minimum of Restricted DL and own reliable vehicle
- Days of work
- Monday to Friday between (9am - 6pm) overtime as required. (40 hours per week)
