Rumaki Cafe is Aotearoa’s first total immersion reo Maaori cafe. It is still in its establishment phase, and social media will be a vital part of gaining momentum and community support both locally and nationally.

This role is all about bringing the story and kaupapa of Rumaki Cafe to life online, especially through short video content. All your mahi will be in te reo Maaori or reo rua. You’ll create and edit TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram videos, share updates about our mahi and kaupapa, and work alongside the team to build excitement and a following.

You’ll be the face of Rumaki Cafe - the main social media personality, helping us engage with young people, whaanau, and supporters.

We need someone who takes initiative, can work in a high trust, high accountability context, is intimately in tune with current social media trends, and someone who is comfortable connecting with a range of people – both online and in the community.

Job Requirements

You’ll need to be conversational in te reo Maaori, feel comfortable on camera, have great spoken communication. You must have your own good quality phone with camera, and ideally a full NZ driver licence. You’ll be living in Rotorua (or nearby and willing to come to Rotorua regularly). You’ll have some roots or history and understand the community. Previous experience creating social media video content would be a big advantage.
