Steel Worker Machine Operator

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Steel Worker / Machine Operator to join our team in Hornby South. This role involves the safe handling, processing, and fabrication of reinforcing steel to meet daily production targets and quality standards. You will be responsible for operating machinery, preparing reinforcing steel products, and supporting dispatch operations as required.

Key Responsibilities • Safely handle straight and pre-bent reinforcing steel • Accurately cut, bend, and shear reinforcing steel to specification • Tie reinforcing steel cages and complete related fabrication tasks • Read and interpret detail sheets, drawings, and production specifications • Set up and shut down machines as required • Conduct daily safety checks on hand tools and machinery to ensure safe operation • Monitor machine output to ensure alignment with daily production plans • Ensure raw materials and packaging supplies are readily available • Maintain strong attention to quality control standards • Assist with loading trucks for dispatch when required

- Minimum 1 Year experience in Steel Fixing / Machine Operating in NZ preferred Candidates with a relevant NZQA Level 2 or 3 qualification will also be considered - Excellent work ethic with a positive attitude - High drive to be successful and willing to go that extra mile - Willing to undertake a pre-employment medical and drug test if successful - Ability to read and understand detailing and constructions plans/drawings - Reliable and honest - Good written and oral communication skills - Good knowledge of OHS Site Safe accreditation preferred
