Trainee Butchery Assistant
About this job
A Trainee Butcher assists with some up to standard qualified butchers in preparing, cutting, and packaging meat products while learning professional butchery techniques. The role involves maintaining hygiene standards, meat safely, serving customers and Assist in cutting, trimming, and preparing meat products under supervision Learn different meat cuts (beef, lamb, pork, poultry, etc.) Weigh, portion, and package meat products Label products accurately with prices and dates Provide friendly and professional service Handle customer requests for specific cuts where possible Follow food safety regulations and hygiene standards Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, and equipment Store meat products correctly to maintain freshness

Job Requirements
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Good attention to detail and commitment to hygiene standards Physically fit and able to lift heavy items when required Comfortable working in a chilled environment Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to follow health and safety procedures Previous retail or food handling experience is an advantage but not essential
