Truck Driver - Class 5

Join the West Coast mining industry as a Class 5 Truck Driver; you will be responsible for operating heavy vehicles (including truck and trailer units or B-trains) and our earthworks fleet, for haulage from the mine to port. Specific responsibilities include: regular vehicle inspections with daily vehicle documentation, ensuring compliance with all: Health, safety and NZTA standards, including; loading, logbook, routine maintenance, promoting a strong mobile plant safety culture. Loading of vehicles and vessels; ensuring correct management of the load at both mine pick up and port delivery points; operating earthworks fleet at the mine site when required, regular inspections of the sites, reporting of breaches and incidents, ensuring mobile plant is clean and well presented. Effective communication and report writing; understanding of site operation and radio protocols, assisting other site teams during plant shutdowns fulfilling other duties where requested. Undertake or recommend preventative maintenance reporting, ensuring equipment and plant is maintained is safe and fit for purpose, minimise wastage of resources and materials and overall respect of costs and production through efficient operating practice.
Job Requirements
Current NZ Class 5 licence with clean driving record. Minimum 2 years’ experience driving heavy vehicles, preferably in the transport of bulk or mining materials. Port operation experience is desirable. Certificates for Heavy Earthmoving fleet, skid steer, articulated or heavy ridged vehicles. NZTA-approved Logbook training and fatigue management awareness. Ability to ensure vehicle compliance standards, CoF (Certificate of Fitness) and load security. Reliable with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, integrity and a great team player. Good communication skills including the ability to interpret SOPs and relevant legislative requirements. Experience working in rural, coastal, or remote locations advantageous. Wet Concentrator Plant experience or similar quarry or civils industry exposure is desirable. First Aid Certificate is desirable.
