Workshop Facilitator (Part-Time)

We are seeking a passionate Workshop Facilitator to develop and deliver a migrant support programme for a Trust in Grey Lynn, with some flexibility to work from home when workshops are not running.
You will support and deliver Community Empowerment initiatives, engaging with migrant and ethnic communities in New Zealand to help them make informed choices related to settlement, integration and overall empowerment.
This role involves cooking, performing meal preparation duties for the mobile migrant support programme and connect groups, workshop setup, facilitation and cleanup, networking, and administration.
Ability to provide interpreting services in a workshop and group setting would be an advantage.
A Social Work qualification or experience in a Non-Profit sector desired but not essential.
Duties include:
Meal Preparations • Cooking for up to 20 people, can use or be trained to use commercial stoves to cook curries, halal dishes, vegan, rich, salads, baking, and making tea. • Assisting and preparation of meals for workshops, networking meetings, and food parcels. • Making sure the kitchen is clean and tidy after meetings.
Workshop Facilitation • Facilitating the delivery of the migrant support programme, resources, and activities engaging children, and families through presentations and learning resources that meet the needs of families. • Set up and clean up duties before and after the workshops and connect groups. • Coordinating one-on-one and/or group support and training that assists migrant and ethnic communities to meet settlement related outcomes.
Administration • Developing PowerPoint presentations related to migrant and employment support. • Using Microsoft 365, creating PowerPoints, and carrying out data entry • Maintaining an up-to-date record of attendance sheets in Excel database. • Working with team to provide administrative support when needed. • Entering data for surveys in database before the end of the month. • CV making for clients.
Community Engagement and Networking • Supporting community engagement by partnering with families and communities to raise awareness about the Trust’s work and organize events and workshops by inviting people. • Connecting with community groups and community clusters to provide migrant and employment services.
Job Requirements
The ideal person would be someone looking for a part-time role.
Must be able to prepare and cook for up to 20 people – including curries, halal dishes, vegan dishes, rice, salads, baking and making tea.
Must have, or be prepared to obtain, Food Safety Training and Certification – with knowledge of food handling and hygiene practices to work in a community kitchen.
Must be able to lift up to 20kg to assist with putting out chairs and tables and lifting heavy pots in the kitchen.
Must be able to carry out all requirements (or be willing to be trained) and be prepared to pitch in where needed and remain flexible as required.
Must be able to facilitate workshops and be trained to deliver a migrant support programme (training provided).
Must have an interest in, or experience of, community engagement.
Must be able to use Excel database, Microsoft 365, create PowerPoints and carry out data entry.
Must be prepared to do a 1 day Saturday unpaid work trial and demonstrate how to make a power point and engage with a community group
- Days of work
- Flexible hours, Sunday to Friday, some evenings up to 7pm. Work one Saturday every four weeks, 11am–8pm. (15 hours per week)
