Underground Mine Operator
About this job
May include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
-Deliver personnel and equipment to job sites and return surplus supplies to stores
-Offside and assist Jumbo Operators to achieve production targets
-Assist with the collection of production samples
-Assist with face set-up
-Perform underground housekeeping duties
-Assist with mine pump maintenance and installation
-Perform pre-start and shutdown checks on all equipment to ensure units are kept clean and in a serviceable condition
-Load and transport ore from chutes/loaders to the tipple
-Hose down hang-ups in chutes
-Keep loading areas clean and ensure spillages are cleaned up on tramming drives
-Operate equipment during both day and night shifts
-Understand underground mine layout and ground conditions

Job Requirements
Must Haves:
-18 years of age or older
-Full driver licence (ability to drive a manual transmission is essential)
-Ability to pass pre-employment background checks, including:
-MOJ/Police vetting
-NZTA driver licence vetting
-Medical assessment
-Drug & Alcohol (D&A) testing
-Provision of two referees (including a supervisor from the past five years)
-Good level of fitness; comfortable working in confined spaces, low-light conditions, humidity, and other challenging environments; able to work night shifts
-Reliable and punctual; able to attend work as rostered
-Demonstrates ability, motivation, and a positive attitude
-Shows initiative and a strong commitment to safety
-Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
Preferred but Not Essential:
-Local to Waihi or the Hauraki / Thames / Coromandel / Piako / Western Bay of Plenty (North) regions
-Previous participation in OceanaGold programmes (e.g. Mine Skills Development, Jumpstart)
-Machine operating experience and/or additional endorsements (e.g. truck, WTR, loader, watercart, grader)
-Experience in related industries or labouring roles; mechanical aptitude
-Current First Aid certification
