Support large scale orchard establishment and infrastructure projects at a multi hundred hectare conversion site.
Duties include: • new block establishment (planting • irrigation installation • trellis construction • contractor coordination • young tree establishment care
This role is operational and development focused - it requires on site project delivery rather than routine harvest picking.
The operation is part of a staged conversion to apples at scale. Key duties and time allocation: • Planting & block establishment — 60% (site prep, planting, staking, mulching, establishment watering) • Irrigation & trellis installation — 20% (trenching, pipe/dripper fitting, post/wire erection) • Young tree care & monitoring — 10% (watering, weed control, formative pruning) • Site maintenance & equipment movement — 5% • Contractor coordination, toolbox talks & admin — 5% (scheduling, H&S checks, incident reporting)
Job Requirements
• Practical orchard or farm development experience preferred • Ability to follow standard operation procedures • Ability to follow Health and Safety procedures • Drivers' licence preferred • Ability to coordinate with contractors and follow project schedules • Must be physically fit and willing to learn • Be reliable • Be a Team Player • Must pass a pre-employment drug test • Must pass a MOJ check - have no criminal record
