A Bakery located in the heart of Otautau is looking for a motivated and reliable team member to join the team and work towards a Bakery Apprenticeship. This is a hands-on role where you will support the owner in day-to-day operations and learn every aspect of running a busy bakery.

About the Role: You will work across front of house, back of house, and barista/coffee service, while being trained in the craft of baking — from breads and sourdough to pastries and sweet treats.

Key Responsibilities • Assist in preparing and baking a range of breads, sourdough, pastries, and baked goods following recipes and standards • Operate and maintain bakery equipment (mixers, ovens, etc) safely and correctly • Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic workspace in line with food safety standards • Assist with stock rotation, inventory, and ingredient replenishment • Provide friendly and efficient customer service, including answering queries and assisting at the counter • Perform coffee-making and barista duties • Handle cash accurately and responsibly

Job Requirements

We’re looking for someone who is: • Honest, reliable, and capable with a strong work ethic. • Physically fit and able to manage manual, hands-on tasks • Passionate about baking and excited to learn new skills and techniques • Able to work well in a team with good communication and problem-solving abilities • Detail-focused with a commitment to high standards of quality and cleanliness. • Comfortable with early morning starts (3am) • Keen to develop into a Bakery Apprentice over time Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and a MOJ check
