An employer is looking for a Finishing Trim Operator.
Key Responsibilities:
Excavator Operation (20T) • Operate a 20-tonne digger safely and efficiently on active civil construction sites. • Carry out detailed finishing works including trimming, shaping, and final grading. • Perform excavation for drainage, utilities, roading, and infrastructure works.
Finishing and Final Trim Work • Complete final surface preparation to design levels and project tolerances. • Assist in backfilling, benching, battering, and site clean-up works. • Ensure smooth and accurate finishing around services, kerbs, and structures.
Site Coordination • Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and ground crew to meet daily targets. • Communicate clearly with spotters and other machine operators to maintain safe work zones. • Follow site plans, levels, and instructions as required. Health & Safety Compliance • Adhere to all company and site-specific health and safety procedures. • Conduct pre-start checks and report any defects or maintenance issues immediately. • Maintain safe operation around workers, traffic, underground services, and equipment.
Machine Care and Maintenance • Carry out daily inspections, lubrication, and basic maintenance. • Keep machinery clean, well-maintained, and in good working order. • Report breakdowns or mechanical issues promptly.
Job Requirements
Required Skills & Experience • Proven experience operating a 20-tonne excavator in civil construction. • Strong ability to perform finishing and final trim work to a high standard. • Understanding of civil infrastructure works including drainage, roading, and earthworks. • Ability to read site plans, set-out marks, and levels (advantageous). • Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing assignments professionally.
Qualifications & Requirements • Current WTR endorsement (or equivalent excavator operator certification). • Full driver’s licence (Class 2 advantageous). • Site Safe passport (preferred). • Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork. • Be able to pass pre-employment drug test and have clean MOJ record.
