A well-known cultural and tourism hospitality operation in Rotorua is seeking a Commis Chef to join their kitchen team. This role supports senior chefs in delivering high-quality food that reflects both culinary excellence and cultural values, while ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-organised kitchen environment.
As a Commis Chef, you will be involved in food preparation, cooking, presentation, and service across daily operations and special events. You will play an important part in upholding food safety standards, contributing to menu development, and supporting a positive, collaborative team culture. Duties include: -Assist with food preparation, cooking, and plating as directed by senior chefs. -Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met. -Follow safe food handling, storage, and hygiene practices (HACCP). -Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment. -Support buffet service, events, and special functions as required. -Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen and food & beverage team. -Contribute positively to team culture and uphold organisational values.

Job Requirements
1- Culinary qualification and at least 1 year’s experience in a commercial kitchen preferred. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards. 2- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. 3- Willing to undergo pre-employment checks if required. 4- Full class 1 driver licence and own car needed due to the location and hours worked.
