Painter Assistant

Responsibilities: Tasks involve: • Setting up scaffolding and ladders, and placing drop sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering • Preparing surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, fixing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces • Follow painters’ directives to prepare and mix paints • Assist in applying paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays • Cleaning equipment and work areas • May do some basic repair work, like loading, unloading and general labour work. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment Work independently or as part of a team to complete jobs on time

• Knowledge of painting materials and techniques would be advantageous. • Physical stamina and manual dexterity • Attention to detail and commitment to quality • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license would be an advantage and able to lift heavy loads. Must have reliable transport with Restricted NZDL • Able to work on weekends Preferred: • Familiarity with safety procedures and OSHA guidelines • Ability to estimate materials and time for jobs • Experience in drywall repair, wallpaper removal, or decorative finishes would be an advantage, but training will be provided. * Able to pass pre - employment checks (MOJ/Drug test)
