MT SOMERS - ASHBURTON: We are looking for a single Dairy Farm Assistant, preferably with 6 to 9 months experience, to assist with the day-to-day milking of 900 cows through a 60-bail rotary shed. Your role will primarily be the milking of the cows but will also include animal health – identifying and treating lameness and mastitis in cows, shifting animals around the property, moving break fences, moving K-Lines, basic tractor driving and any other general farm duties as required.
NEED TO LIVE ON THE FARM - Single/shared accommodation is available on the farm. No smoking or vaping while working on the farm, smoking and vaping can be permissible outside the housing accommodation (NO SMOKING OR VAPING INSIDE THE HOUSE ETC)
Working between 40 to 55 hours per week.
Full Class 1 Drivers Licence and reliable vehicle. Full Drivers licence is required to be able to drive the tractors.
Job Requirements
Must be: -Reliable -Have a great attitude -A sense of humour -Be physical fit, as it is a demanding job – no previous back or shoulder injures -CV with current and contactable referees.
