Pou Whakaaro and Community Resources Centre in Whakatane are currently seeking participants for their Project in the Community programme.
This is a 20 weeks project focused on Reusing, Repurposing, and Reducing waste by transforming 4 to 10 tonnes of waste timber into useful products for the community. What you’ll be doing : Five participants will work together to create items such as Kindling boxes Planter boxes Crates Chopping boards General boxes Garden stakes
Participants will also have opportunities to learn customer service and basic cafe skills for those who are interested.
You will gain practical skills and industry valued training, including First Aid Site Safe risk management Machinery operation Manual handling and lifting Health & Safety Working at heights Repairing cabinets, drawers, and other items Time management Work ethic Budgeting Communication skills Basic cafe skills at VW Cafe
Employment Support Throughout the programme, each participant will be supported by Pou Whakaaro Employment Coordinators with the goal of securing permanent employment at the end of the 20 weeks.
Job Requirements
Able to work Monday to Thursday 9 am - 4pm Willing to learn and committed for 20 weeks To meet the criteria for the project, client needs to be - Disadvantaged & at risk of long term unemployment & have specific employment needs. please ask below Qs to meet the criteria - Have you been out of work for a while and feeling low in confidence?
