We have multiple vacancies available for a Youth Caregiver/Kaiwhiti that can work around the Hamilton Region. The purpose of the role is to deliver general care services to Tamariki and rangatahi. The vision of the company is for all tamariki and rangatahi to have a safe and caring environment, and to be provided with mana enhancing support services while they are away from their whanau.
- Provide general care services to children, including the preparation of meals, cleaning of homes/cars, facilitating transportation etc - Contribute to and implement activity plans and schedules - Treat all clients, their whanau, and stakeholders with respect at all times - As required, facilitate education, career, and mentoring programmes under the direction of your Area Manager - Keep Wairere properties and vehicles clean, hygienic and tidy (i.e. undertake cleaning and maintenance duties from time to time, as required) - Take responsibility for your own health and safety. Ensure that your ‘acts or omissions’ in carrying out your duties do not cause harm to any other persons - Report all health and safety incidents, near misses, and hazards, in accordance with Wairere’s health and safety policy - Take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and well-being of children in our care - Apply CPI non-restrictive safety interventions in response to child risk behaviours - Understand and follow Wairere policies; and any lawful instructions by management - Participate in all required inductions, training, and staff meetings, as required - Undertake handovers in accordance with Wairere policy - Capture information about the day-to-day care using Wairere’s reporting tools - Ensure all reporting is accurate, transparent and timely - Respond to management communication in a timely manner - All work communications are to be kept professional and respectful
Job Requirements
• Must be able to pass MOJ checks, police vetting and Oranga Tamariki's vetting • Full driver's licence is a must • Any qualification in Mental Health, Social Service Sector is an advantage but not necessary • First Aid Certificate is an advantage • Must have experience in youth work, caregiving, mentoring programs or similar

- Rostered shifts Monday to Sunday 7am to 5.30pm - morning shift 5.40pm to 7.10am - night shift (40 hours per week)
