Service Technician – Nelson City (New Store Opening) An established national electronics retailer is opening a new store in Nelson and is seeking a skilled Service Technician to support in-store customers with diagnostics, repairs, and technical services. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with a wide range of technologies and delivering excellent customer service. This role is suited to an experienced technician who can work independently, manage diagnostics end-to-end, and confidently support customers across a broad range of technologies.
You’ll be responsible for diagnosing and repairing ICT hardware, supporting network-related issues, and managing service workflows in a busy retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, service, and repair ICT hardware (desktops, laptops, peripherals) Perform hardware and software fault finding and troubleshooting Carry out on-site network diagnostics and basic network fixes Process RMAs, including assessment, documentation, and follow-up Repair and service scooters and 3D printers Provide clear technical explanations and friendly support to customers Maintain accurate service records and adhere to turnaround targets Support store operations as part of a collaborative technical team
Job Requirements
Full Driver Licence or a minimum of a Restricted Licence Good eyesight Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Studies or a related field (preferred) Apple certifications (preferred) Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in ICT hardware repair or technical support 1–2 previous job referees will be needed
Strong working knowledge of: Microsoft Windows environments Apple macOS and iOS Android devices Networking fundamentals (routers, connectivity, cabling, basic configuration) Basic electrical knowledge and safe working practices Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

- Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 6:00pm Saturday: 9:30am – 5:30pm 30hrs/week, Permanent Full Time (30 hours per week)
