A farm in the Pukeatua area is seeking a dairy cattle farm worker to assist with feed planning and the management of weeds and pests. The role includes applying fertiliser and implementing irrigation requirements.

The successful applicant will ensure the effective operation of all aspects of the milking process, including plant hygiene and somatic cell count management. They will operate and maintain the effluent system in compliance with all regional council requirements and the employer’s additional standards, and maintain all required effluent management records.

Responsibilities also include implementing the animal health programme; assisting with calving, wintering, and calf rearing programmes to minimise losses and ensure high-quality herd replacements; maintaining accurate herd records; and reporting any incidents of unwell animals.

The role involves working with the Dairy Farm Manager to contribute to the Farm Business Plan, and assisting with the management of repairs and maintenance schedules for all plant, machinery, and infrastructure.

Job Requirements

-Be physically fit and willing to learn. -Pass preemployment drug test and have no criminal record. -Applicants are not required to have experience in the dairy shed, or with pasture-based farming as this is an entry level role and the employer is willing to provide necessary training. -Must have a Full class 1 driver licence. -Employee housing is provided on-site, and applicants must reside in the farm accommodation. No drive-in options available. Accommodation may be shared or private, depending on availability at the time of successful placement. No pets allowed.
