About this job

A reliable and motivated Deckhand needed for a local company to join their ferry crew. Ferry transports both vehicles and passengers, so safety, teamwork, and excellent customer service are essential. This is a hands-on role where you will assist with vessel operations, loading and unloading vehicles, and ensuring a smooth and safe journey for all passengers.

Key Responsibilities:

-Assist with the safe loading, securing, and unloading of vehicles on the ferry. -Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers on board. -Perform routine deck maintenance and cleaning duties. -Support the crew with day-to-day vessel operations. -Follow all maritime safety procedures and regulations.

Requirements:

-Physically fit and comfortable performing manual tasks. -Strong teamwork and communication skills. -Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude. -Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays. -Previous maritime, ferry, or deckhand experience is preferred but not essential – training can be provided. -Basic understanding of safety procedures is an advantage.

Job Requirements

- reliable and able to get to omokoroa with own transport. -Physically fit and comfortable performing manual tasks. -Strong teamwork and communication skills. -Reliable transport is must. -Previous maritime, ferry, or deckhand experience is preferred but not essential – training will be provided. -Comfortable working at sea and traveling on the ferry

Days of work
20 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours. start at 7.15 am and finish at about 4.30pm for a typical day (20 hours per week)
