A Family Store in Levin is seeking an experienced and motivated Store Team Leader to play a key role in the store’s ongoing success.

This position is critical to ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of the store. The Team Leader is responsible for motivating, training, and supporting staff and volunteers to meet operational expectations in line with national Family Store requirements. The role also works closely with the Area Manager as part of the senior operational team to support the delivery of strategic objectives. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, hands-on leader who leads by example, with proven ability to coach and motivate teams, drive sales, implement best-practice processes, and ensure high-quality stock is processed, priced, and well presented.

Key Responsibilities: • Lead staff and volunteers effectively, fostering a positive and collaborative team culture • Ensure customers and donors receive a consistently positive experience • Model and perform tasks across all store operations, providing training and ongoing support • Ensure donation processing, pricing, and merchandising meet national standards • Maintain a well-presented, safe, and welcoming store environment • Facilitate regular team meetings to communicate goals, targets, and performance expectations • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, including health & safety, HR, and audit requirements • Complete day-to-day business, financial, and administrative tasks accurately and efficiently

About you: • Strong commitment to quality service and an excellent customer and donor experience • Collaborative, hands-on leadership style with the ability to support and develop others • Proven ability to motivate teams and achieve performance targets • Good understanding of sales budgets, reporting, and performance tracking • Physically fit and capable of regular lifting • Confident using retail and communication technologies, including POS systems and tablets • Ethical, respectful, and transparent approach to leadership, aligned with The Salvation Army values • Ability to work within established procedures while applying sound judgement and initiative

Additional Information: • Full-time role: 40 hours per week • Rostered hours may vary between Monday and Saturday • Stores may operate on some public holidays

Job Requirements

• All employment offers are subject to a satisfactory Ministry of Justice / Police check • Available to work Monday to Saturday roster and public holidays if needed • Strong customer service background detailed in updated CV • Confident using retail and communication technologies, including POS systems and tablets • Physically fit and capable of regular lifting • Proven experience in a retail leadership or supervisory role

Days of work
40hr/wk .Stores may operate on some public holidays. Role may require too work a varied roster between Monday - Saturday. (40 hours per week)
