Nursery Workers

Our local Waimea Plains Nursery business is looking to recruit Nursery Workers for an immediate start finishing approx. early March. They are keen to hear from motivated people that love working in the outdoors, who are very physically fit and able and not afraid of hard work.

Join our team and help produce high-quality trees to meet production targets. Key Responsibilities:

Assist with tasks such as planting, weeding, tree support, lifting, propagation, and dispatch. Operate machinery (after training) as directed. Follow health and safety procedures and work collaboratively to achieve team goals.

What We’re Looking For:

Physically fit and able to lift up to 20kg. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and spending most of the day bent over. Reliable, hardworking, and ready to learn. Positive attitude and commitment to safety.

Comfortable completing a variety of field tasks allocated by the Team Leader, including: Chemical weed control (knapsack, walk-behind, or hand weeding) Tree support (canes, strings, disbudding, stripping, lateralling, taping, prep for lifting) Stoolbed maintenance (sawdusting, weeding, harvesting) Planting and preparation for lifting Lifting, propagation, grading, dispatch Scion wood processing, pruning, budding, grafting, tying Have a great attitude and get along with people Want to be rewarded well for the work you do A quick learner that thrives in a team environment Are focused and enjoy a fast-paced environment Able to follow all applicable safe work behaviours Able to get to their remote location in the Waimea Plains (no public transport available) Random drug testing applies Minor criminal convictions considered on a case by case basis.
