Cook Assistant – Indian Cuisine

An Indian restaurant in Remuera is looking for a motivated Cook Assistant to join the kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone with kitchen experience who is keen to learn Indian cooking, including both South and North Indian cuisine.

Employer is looking for someone who has: • Previous experience as a Kitchen Hand or Cook Assistant (Indian cooking experience preferred but not essential) • Interest in learning Indian cuisine, particularly South Indian cooking • Basic kitchen skills and understanding of food preparation • Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately • Works well with both kitchen and front-of-house teams • Maintains a clean and hygienic kitchen, following food safety guidelines • Good communication skills and a positive team attitude • Reliable, organised, and able to handle busy service times

• Must pass a drug test and police check • Must be able to work weekends • At least 3–6 months of kitchen experience (e.g. Kitchen Hand or Cook Assistant), or a basic understanding of Indian cooking methods • Must be willing to learn South Indian cooking • Must have a good attitude, be a team player, and be willing to learn
