Traffic Management Worker / Traffic Management Driver – Taupo
Location: Taupo Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Hours: 40+ Hours per week (shift work) Start Date: February 2026 (following completion of residential programme)
About the Role A major civil construction provider is seeking Traffic Management Workers and Traffic Management Driver/Workers to join their Taupo-based team. These are permanent, full-time roles supporting road construction and maintenance projects across the region.
No previous experience or traffic control qualifications are required, as full training is provided through a paid residential programme.
Roles involve a mix of duties on active road work sites, including: - Traffic control and site safety - Machine operation and general labouring tasks - Supporting road construction activities (Approx. 10% driving, 90% on-site work)
Key Details - Approx. 4 positions available in Taupo - Shift work with the potential for high weekly hours - Employment commences the Monday following completion of training - All travel costs covered for required training
Job Requirements
Training & Interviews - Interviews: Rotorua/Taupo-based, between 19–23 January 2026 (venue advised) Residential Training Programme: - 5-day residential course in Hamilton - Dates: 2–5 February 2026 (must be available to go away during this period) - Traffic control training is included in the programme
Licence Requirements - Traffic Management Worker: Full Class 1 Driver Licence - Traffic Management Driver/Worker: Full Class 2 Driver Licence (minimum requirement) - Traffic Control or STMS qualifications are desirable but not essential.
We are looking for people who: - Have strong communication skills - Are reliable and comfortable working on their feet - Can work safely in a team environment - Are physically fit and safety focused - Hold a full, clean Class 1 or Class 2 licence - Pass Ministry of Justice Check - Pass Pre-employment drug test with ongoing testing
Candidates with previous civil, roading, or traffic management experience are welcome, but not required.
