A busy, full-service restaurant located in Royal Oak, specializing in authentic Indian and Indo-Chinese cuisine, has an opening for 2 x Chef / Cook who can work in a fast-paced environment and bring creativity, consistency, and quality to their kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Chef Duties: • Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes including curries, Indo-Chinese specialties, Tandoori breads, kebabs, marinades, and tikka dishes. • Plan menus and ensure high-quality food presentation. • Manage kitchen operations, supervise staff, and maintain a positive team environment. • Monitor inventory, order supplies, and control food costs. • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations. • Handle special dietary requirements and customer requests professionally.

Cook Duties: • Cooking meals and seasoning food during preparation. • Portioning food, plating dishes, and adding gravies, sauces, and garnishes. • Coordinate with Chefs and kitchen staff on food preparation tasks such as marinating and making sauces. • Check food and ingredient stocks to ensure quality and freshness. • Secure proper storage of food and ingredients in temperature-controlled facilities. • Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment. • Assist with receiving goods from suppliers and report any damaged or non-operational equipment. • Train and share knowledge with other kitchen staff and apprentices. • Participate in menu planning and food requirement estimations. • Maintain efficiency for smooth restaurant operations.

Job Requirements

• Must have at least 2 years relevant experience as Indian Chef / Cook with knowledge of the cuisine (Indian Curries, Indo-Chinese dishes, Tandoori breads, kebabs, marinades and tikka preparations) • Must be healthy and physically fit. Employer may request ACC history as part of the recruitment process. • Must pass a pre-employment Ministry of Justice and Drug Test • Must be committed to rostered shifts Monday - Sunday (must be available for weekend shifts) • Great people skills, strong customer focus, and experience managing staff. • Passion for hospitality and delivering an exceptional customer experience. • Excellent personal presentation, enthusiastic, and reliable. • Ability to work under pressure and remain focused in a fast-paced environment. • Hindi language skills would be an advantage but not essential.

Days of work
Split Shifts: 11am - 2:30pm and 5pm - 9:30pm. Tuesday to Sunday rostered. (30 hours per week)

$28.00 - $30.00 depending on experience
