Chef's Assistant

An Onehunga restaurant specialising in Japanese cuisine is looking for a Chef's Assistant to join their team. As a Chef's Assistant, you will be:
• Confirming that stock is ready to use and preparing food ingredients following given recipes • Preparing, measuring, and handling ingredients with a variety of cooking skills, such as washing, peeling, cutting, slicing and dicing, under senior kitchen staff’s supervision and direction • Cleaning utensils, equipment, floors, kitchen tools, and kitchen areas • Assisting and working with senior kitchen staff in stock control, portion control, quality control, and wastage management
Job Requirements
• At least 6 months verifiable work experience in food handling or a relevant NZQF qualification, such as a Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate • Sufficient knowledge in Japanese food and beverage culture as well as hospitality would be an asset • Good command of English to carry out stated duties Strong personal hygiene
- Days of work
- Rotating shifts and roster for 5 days of the week, 10.30am - 10pm. Business is open all days of the week. (30 hours per week)
