About this job
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Chef with strong experience in authentic Nepali cuisine for a long-term position in New Zealand. Experience working in Nepal is highly preferred. The successful candidate must clearly understand the differences between Nepali and Indian spices, flavours, and cooking techniques. A practical cooking trial will be required prior to final appointment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and cook authentic Nepali dishes consistently Ensure high standards of food quality and presentation Oversee daily food preparation and kitchen operations Maintain quality control and portion consistency Food cost control Ensure full compliance with New Zealand Food Control Plan (FCP) Maintain strict food hygiene, cleanliness, and Health & Safety standards Reduce waste and improve kitchen efficiency Support and train kitchen staff as required Trial & Compliance Shortlisted candidates must complete a cooking trial Knowledge of NZ food safety standards and hygiene practices is essential (training can be provided)
Job Requirements
Eligibility & Skills Proven experience as a Chef (Nepali cuisine preferred) Experience working in Nepal is an advantage Basic English communication skills Strong cooking and food preparation abilities Good understanding of authentic Nepali flavours vs Indian cuisine Ability to work efficiently under pressure Commitment to long-term employment in New Zealand
