Orchard Hand - permanent role

An OPPORTUNITY has arisen for a permanent Orchard Hand to join an orchard in the Motueka area, starting with summer maintenance work. Ideally we require someone who is confident operating and driving machinery who has their GrowSafe certificate however we can train accordingly. This role may also suit an up and coming horticultural professional, or others looking for a step up from their current position and/or potential to progress further in time. This role suits those loving work outdoors and requires people to be physically capable for all day work in, what often is, hot or cold weather. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include undertaking a range of manual and machine operated orchard operations such as spraying, pruning, thinning, harvesting, spraying, tractor and forklift driving. Plus, for the right applicant, aspects of workforce supervision and quality control. ATTRIBUTES SOUGHT: This key role seeks workers who are practically minded, safety and quality focused, a self-starter with a can-do attitude, attention to detail, where needed willing to learn and can quickly come up to speed with what is required. The successful applicant must be willing to operate with safe techniques, understand orchard best practices and be good with numbers. This is key role requiring applicants to communicate and collaborate as part of a small permanent team. As part of that to build successful working relationships with other employees at all levels such as RSEs/seasonal workers, peers, supervisors, and company leaders.

To be successful you must have orchard experience, your Full Class 1 Drivers licence. Grow Safe & Forklift preferred. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test. Criminal convictions considered on a case by case basis.
