Packhouse Worker & Apple Pruner- fixed term to 15July approx

Packhouse Role: We are looking for staff for our central Motueka Packhouse. We welcome seasonal staff who are fit, agile, conscientious people to work on the apple packing line at a modern Packhouse. There is solid work at 40+ hours per week from approx 15 February to mid May, before shifting to apple pruning work through to 15 July .
Packhouse Duties: • To grade fruit that ensures the best presentation for local and export markets. • To pack fruit to customer requirements with no rejects. • To perform stacking duties effectively to ensure no collapse or crushed boxes. • To perform palletisation tasks to ensure shipped product does not shift during voyages to customers. • To undertake maintenance and cleaning duties to maintain the company’s and the industry’s exporting standards.
Pruning Role: The ideal candidate will have a good level of fitness as this position involves ladder work, repetitive movements, and secateurs/lopper use. You will be selectively removing growth on the tree to encourage good crop of fruit for next season. You must be reliable and enthusiastic about working outdoors in winter conditions. Previous horticulture experience is preferred but not essential.

For Packhouse, the employee must: o Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Export Compliance requirements. o Operate machinery and equipment safely and only as trained. o Wear and use the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. o Immediately report any hazards, incidents, injuries, or near misses to a Supervisor. Physical Requirements • This role involves repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, manual handling, lifting, bending, and working at pace in a production environment.
For Pruning, to be successful you must be: - Physically fit - Reliable - Enthusiastic about working outdoors in winter conditions. - Previous horticulture experience is preferred but not essential

- Packhouse: Mon-Sat 7am and finish time between 3.30pm-5.30pm. One rostered shift off. Further details discussed at interview. (40 hours per week)
