The Role As a Corrections Officer, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our prisons safe and secure while supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders. You will balance security responsibilities with care and respect for individuals, helping to create an environment where people can make better choices for themselves and their whanau.
Key Responsibilities: • Ensure the safety, security, and wellbeing of offenders, staff, and visitors. • Carry out daily routines, escorts, and custodial duties. • De-escalate and manage conflict situations with professionalism and sound judgement. • Support offender rehabilitation by encouraging positive behaviour and connections with whanau and communities. • Respond effectively in emergencies and uphold sentence compliance requirements. • Maintain accurate records and follow departmental policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Requirements: • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain). • Full NZ driver licence (including manual). • Clean criminal record. • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
