A Reporoa farm is looking for two Dairy Farm Assistants to begin work by 15 February 2026. Applicants do not need prior experience in framing, as they will receive full training. Some knowledge or experience is helpful to enable applicants to understand the hours and dedication required for the role. The farm will be at its busiest from March 2026, for autumn calving. The will be 2100 cows. On farm accommodation is supplied (rent will be deducted from salary). Accommodation is a two bedroom unit or house, shared with one other farm worker. The accommodation is for the dairy farm assistant only.
Duties will include: -Milking cows efficiently and safely, cleaning sheds and yards, shed hygiene following standard operating procedures (SOP's).
-Understanding milk quality - training will be provided (policies and SOP's in place).
-Assisting with moving animals safely, observes problems and reports to Manager.
-Watching/learning and reporting any animal health issues.
-Assists with moving handling and rearing calves safely. Is building awareness of good health, hygiene and welfare for newly calved cows and young calves.
-Keeping a learning record.
-Assists with weed control on farm, spraying and grubbing.
-General cleaning and maintenance on the farm.
-Understands and is aware of personal growth opportunities on the farm.
-Effective communication, good time management, confident using smart phones (they will train you for Halter).
-Safely ride a two-wheeler motorbike.
-Understands Health and Safety and it's importance.
-Understands you own wellbeing and others.
-Working across multiple herds
Job Requirements
-Be willing and able to work the times /hours required of farming roles. Be willing and able to work outside in all weathers. -Good personal hygiene , maintains housing up to standards Punctual, Tidiness, Great Attitude Growth mindset. -Be willing and able to study to achieve a level 3 and/or 4 Certificate in Dairy Farming (time off to attend training) -Be physically fit to cope with the demands of the role -On farm accommodation is supplied and the rent is deducted from salary. Accommodation is a room in a unit/dorm, shared with one other. (For the use of the staff member only.) -No drugs, smoking or vaping is allowed on the farm property inside or outside, or around accommodation. -No pets are allowed in the accommodation or in the farm. Regular drugs testing and inspections will apply.

- Roster based work, (6 on 1 off, 5 on 2 off) subject to change in calving/mating, (8-9 hrs/day 2:30am-6:30pm, 40hrs min/week. (45 hours per week)
