Casual Support Workers required for a service that provides support for tangata whaiora (people who access our services) with intellectual disabilities and/or complex mental health diagnoses and needs.

You will be teaching them life skills such as cooking, art, music and cultural programmes and mentor them to make positive life choices. You will be well supported by your colleagues, service manager and health professionals.
This service operates 24/7, so there is the need to be able to work a mixture of shifts to cover the 24-hour roster.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to: Encourage and support Tangata Whaiora connections with Whanau and provide support with appointments around mental and physical health. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Work with tangata whaiora to identify significant goals. Provide encouragement and support to achieve their goals. Ensure key documentation and handovers are accurately recorded. Attend and contribute to team meetings, bringing ideas and updating others on their activities.

To be successful in this role, ideally you will bring along the following:
Ability to work collaboratively with mental health professionals and within our team. NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, Level 4 (desirable). Be flexible and able to work a variety of different shifts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays). Understanding and being comfortable with tikanga Maori and Te Reo would be advantageous. Have an attitude of genuinely wanting to make a positive difference in people's lives. A full New Zealand Driver's License
