An experienced Support Worker / Care Assistant is needed in Lyall Bay, Wellington to join our team at a community day centre supporting elderly members.
About the Role: You will provide high-quality care and support to older adults attending our day centre. Some members live with dementia, have experienced stroke, or have cognitive and physical challenges that affect their daily activities. The role includes personal care, social support, and assisting members to enjoy a safe, respectful, and engaging day.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide personal care and daily support to elderly members - Support individuals with dementia, cognitive impairment, and physical limitations - Communicate effectively, respectfully, and appropriately with members, families, and colleagues - Meal preparation and cooking: able to cook nutritious meals for 12 people - Transport members to and from the centre and on outings as required and assisting with any activities - Respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations - Work collaboratively as part of a team and step up when needed.

There are multiple shifts available where each shift is 8 hours. Flexible for successful candidates as long as all shifts are covered.

Job Requirements
- Level 3 Health and Wellbeing Certificate preferred, Level 2 can be considered - Proven experience as a support worker or care assistant - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting older people - Ability to work respectfully and professionally within a team - Full drivers license or restricted with ability to attain Full - Maturity in assisting with personal care - Legal right to live and work in New Zealand without restrictions
