Retail Shop & Bakery Manager - Cheviot

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Retail Shop Manager, ideally with Bakery or Butchery experience, to take the lead in our busy shop and cafe at the heart of the country town of Cheviot. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone with strong leadership skills who loves the warmth of small-town life and enjoys being part of a close knit community. About the Role • Oversee daily retail and bakery operations to ensure smooth, efficient workflows • Lead, train, and mentor a small team across customer service, food preparation, and baking • Maintain product quality, presentation standards, and consistent stock levels • Manage ordering, inventory, waste minimisation, and daily cash handling • Coordinate production schedules with the bakery team to meet demand • Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and staff • Drive sales through excellent merchandising, customer engagement, and promotional activity • Play a key role in business growth by improving processes, supporting new ideas, and helping take the store to the next level

• Previous experience in retail management, bakery operations, or hospitality leadership • Strong people skills with the ability to motivate and support a team • High attention to detail, especially in product quality and shop presentation • Comfortable with ordering, stock control, and basic financial processes • Reliable, organised, and able to work early mornings or weekends when required • Customer-focused with a positive, proactive attitude • Understanding of food safety requirements (meat or bakery experience an advantage)
