Part Time Companion/Caregiving job

This is a weekly on-call part time companion/caregiving job with a component of cleaning for a young man with an intellectual disability living in a small modern flat. We are looking for someone who is kind and empathetic with a warm and friendly personality who enjoys outings and a talkative inquisitive charge companion. You will be a person who is positive, calm with an understanding attitude who enjoys being part of a wider family. Your charge is someone with many interests enjoying athletics, basketball and walks around Nelson all of which you will become involved in with him.
This role needs someone who is flexible as you must be fully available to fill-in shifts when the main caregivers are on holiday or sick, etc. There are plenty of shifts available over summer and potentially through 2026 as one of the caregivers is considering retirement ( after 20 years in this lovely role )
Shifts: 7.30am to 9.30am or 7am to 9am and,or 4.30pm to 7.30pm or 5pm to 8pm.
Reliability is important Training will be given to support a charming person with Down Syndrome, ADHD and autism with daily life, meds, cooking meals and outings etc Pay rate to be discussed as depending on experience.
A full licence and car are needed for some shifts with outings with petrol paid for.
Extra hours could be available soon, but definite start is 10 January 2026 with further hours through February, March and throughout the year.
