Healthcare Assistant

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will provide care and support to our residents including delivering a safe, secure and supportive environment in which we encourage our residents to maintain their independence and to make decisions for themselves. Your key responsibilities will be to:

deliver the highest standard of personal cares to our residents

support residents to have autonomy by doing as much as possible for themselves in a way each resident chooses

assist and support the daily activities in a way that reflects our resident’s holistic well-being

take instruction and delegation under the direction of the Registered Nurse

ensure resident's needs are attended to effectively and in a timely manner

This positions will require working some public holidays, weekends, afternoon shift, night shift.

These positions are based in Titahi Bay, Porirua.

As well as a passion for the wellbeing of our residents, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills and a sense of humour. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. Ideally, you will already have some experience in aged care. In addition, you will have:

1-2 years’ experience working in aged care or in a healthcare setting

a minimum qualification in Health and Wellbeing Level 2

the ability to communicate with and respect the diversity of each individual living and working in our rest home and hospital

good written and documentation skills

basic computer skills

a current, full, clean driver licence
