Established local civil construction company is seeking an enthusiastic and hard working Apprentice Pipelayer / Drainlayer to join their passionate team.
The Apprentice Pipelayer / Drainlayer supports the delivery of civil drainage and infrastructure work under the guidance of qualified tradespeople. This role combines on the job learning with practical experience to develop the skills required to install, repair and maintain drainage and pipeline systems safely and efficiently. The apprentice will work as part of a construction crew, assisting with trenching, pipe laying and site preparation while gaining the knowledge necessary to achieve trade certification.
Duties & responsibilities will include: - Keep tools, equipment and work areas clean, organised and in good condition - Assist with setting out, excavation, installation of pipelines, manholes and drainage structures. - Support qualified drainlayers and pipelayers with material handling and backfilling - Operate hand tools and small plant under supervision - Follow directions from supervisors to ensure work is completed safely, accurately and on schedule - Maintain compliance with all site safety, quality and environmental standards - Identify and report hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions promptly - Attend training sessions and complete apprenticeship requirements
Job Requirements
- NCEA Level 1 and 2 - Minimum restricted license, preference full plus reliable transport to work - Physically fit and healthy with no injuries - Pass a pre-employment drug test - Undertake a criminal background check. Employer is open to convictions within reason and as long as candidates are transparent - Strong work ethic and reliability - Energetic attitude and a genuine interest building a career within the civil construction industry - Up to date and presentable CV with at least two contactable references - Safety focused - Good communication skills - Pre-trade qualification is desirable but not essential
- Days of work
- Mon-Fri with occasional weekend work required. Hours may vary but expect early starts. (40 hours per week)
