Workshop Technician and Operator

Position Overview The Workshop Technician and Operator (Tech), reports to the Orchard Manager, and is responsible for the maintenance of all orchard equipment, liaison with service technicians, and for undertaking machine-based operations as required. This role requires a self-starter who can prioritise workload, and support machinery-based activity by ensuring equipment is prepared in advance and maintained as required to meet orchard priorities. This role requires the skills and ability to plan equipment maintenance; clear communication with staff and stakeholders; commitment to excellence; and the technical ability to achieve that excellence. The Technician role is an important enabler of high-standard orchard operations that create a high-value crop. The role is an even time split between technical/maintenance and machine operations. Hours over 88 per fortnight will be paid at overtime rate and hours beyond 50 per week will be agreed with all parties.

Hours of Work General Hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm (in summer start time is 7:30am). However, due to weather, planning is invariably interrupted. The role will require specific actions at critical times and may require some weekend work during the spraying season. Hours beyond 50 per week will be agreed with all parties.
