Casual Pastry Chef
About this job
We are seeking an experienced and creative Casual Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. In this role, you will support daily pastry production and assist during peak periods, special events, and busy service times. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced kitchen environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality pastries and desserts.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, bake, and present pastries, desserts, and baked goods to a high standard Assist with daily production for service, catering, and special events Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation Follow recipes, portioning guidelines, and food safety procedures Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering when required Support the wider kitchen team during peak service periods Comply with all food hygiene and health & safety regulations

Job Requirements
Must pass all the pre-employment checks (MOJ Check, Drug Test, etc) Previous experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or similar role Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and dessert preparation Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently Flexibility to work casual/on-call shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays Good communication skills and a positive team attitude Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Food Safety Certificate (preferred but not essential) Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand
