About this job

Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers at the bar and tables. Greet guests with a friendly, professional approach, recommend drinks, and create a welcoming atmosphere. Mix classic cocktails and help introduce seasonal or house specials — our tavern is known for a creative cocktail menu tied to our garden-to-glass produce. Check guests’ ID to ensure legal drinking age and monitor for responsible service of alcohol. Handle cash and EFTPOS transactions accurately, maintain the bar till, and assist with nightly bar settlement. Maintain the bar area by stocking beverages, glassware, and garnishes, cleaning equipment, and keeping the workspace tidy and safe. Work closely with the bar and floor teams to ensure smooth service during busy periods (especially weekends and evening shifts). Assist with inventory counts, waste control, and help minimise spoilage or loss. Uphold health & safety standards, liquor licensing requirements, and the tavern’s internal presentation and service quality standards. Participate in opening and closing procedures, and reset the bar for upcoming shifts. We’re ideally looking for someone local to the Kapiti Coast or Waikanae area who can reliably get to and from work for evening and weekend shifts.
