Support Worker
About this job
We are looking for a reliable, responsible, and caring person to provide support for a 11-year-old autistic girl before and after school. This position is based in Blackball area, and is fixed-term for 1 year, which maybe extended. About the Role The role involves overseeing and supporting the child to get ready for school in the morning and meeting her again after school. • Morning shift: 7:00 am – 9:00 am (usually only 1 hour of work, but paid for a 2-hour minimum) • Afternoon shift: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm (this involves meeting the school bus around 3:20 pm)
Duties Include • Supporting the child to get up and organised for school • Driving her 10 kms to catch the school bus • Meeting her off the bus in the afternoon and providing after-school supervision • Occasionally picking her up from Awahono School and taking her to activities such as swimming lessons or walks

Job Requirements
We are seeking someone who is: • Genuine, patient, and caring • Reliable and responsible • Holds a full driver’s licence and has a reliable car (able to transport the child when needed in the family's vehicle ) • Respectful of the child’s independence – she does not require hands-on support with dressing or personal care Details • Location: Blackball area • Contract: 1-year fixed term • Hours: Split shift (approx. 4 hours per day total, with 2-hour minimums for each shift)
