Horticulture and Grounds Maintenance Team Members

A large and well-established landscaping company are looking for reliable and hardworking people to join a busy outdoor maintenance team based in Mt Wellington. There are opportunities available for both Team Leaders and Team Assistants across several areas — Mowing, Horticulture, Sports Fields, Hard Surfaces, and Playgrounds.

These are hands-on, physically demanding roles that require a good level of fitness and a positive, can-do attitude. You’ll be working outdoors, contributing to the care and maintenance of Auckland’s public parks, sports fields, and public spaces.

The depot is located in Mt Wellington where you will meet at the start of your shift then go out in the company vehicles to various locations from central to south Auckland.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the team you join, your day-to-day tasks may include:

Mowing Team

- Weed eating turf around bollards, edges, trees, and fences

- Operating mowing machinery (from 48-inch stand-ons to large tractors)

- Driving utes, trailers, or trucks (Class 1 or 2)

Horticulture Team

- Planting, pruning, mulching, and weeding

- Hedge trimming, spraying, and chain sawing

- Operating small machinery and vehicles (utes, tippers, loaders)

Sports Team

- Field renovations: spraying, sanding, seeding, aerating, fertilising

- Mowing and maintaining sports fields

- Line marking and irrigation maintenance

- Turfing and cricket wicket preparation

Hard Surface Team

- Keeping paths, carparks, and tracks weed-free

- Weed eating and spraying (knapsack, buggy, or steam truck)

- Driving small trucks and utility vehicles

Playground Team

- Inspecting and maintaining playgrounds

- Completing minor repairs and carpentry tasks

- Cleaning, painting, and general upkeep

- Experience in any of the roles listed or transferrable skills will be an advantage

- Full, clean Class 1 driver’s licence (you will be driving company vehicles)

- Able to pass pre-employment drug and Ministry of Justice (MOJ) background checks

- A strong passion for landscaping and a commitment to a long-term career in the industry

- A positive, self-motivated attitude and pride in your work

- Physically fit and capable of handling a hands-on, active role (heavy lifting involved)

- Able to work in all weather conditions and comfortable working in remote areas
