Personal Care Assistant / Home Caregiver

A Tauranga-based employer is looking for Personal Care Assistants to join their team. Duties will include the following: *Preparing clients for any outings – dressing/undressing for day care or trips in to the community. *Personal cares - washing, bathing, showering, shaving, grooming, and cleaning teeth. *Hair and nail care. *Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene, including continence management. *To ensure care of pressure areas are monitored and clients are turned under the supervision of nursing staff. *Assisting clients in and out of bed and assisting with the use of aids for daily living or rehabilitation use. *Attend and assist with rehabilitation programmes as prescribed by Health Professionals. *Provide day, evening and night sitting services as required. *Prompting and assisting the client to take prescribed medication from a blister pack only. *Prepare snack and meals according to the client’s likes and dislikes. *Assist with feeding as required. *General cleaning duties – cleaning, vacuuming, and dusting. *Assist with shopping, including handling of money for shopping.

We are looking for people who have *A passion for empowering clients to live fulfilling and independent lives. *Have strong communication skills with an excellent command of the English language. *Be punctual, reliable, organised, self-motivated, and willing to work rostered shifts. *Be an active team player and sensitive to the needs of others. *Have a minimum of 3 months experience in homecare/healthcare or *Possess a Health qualification (Level 3 or 4 NZQA qualification) or the willingness to work towards achieving this qualification while working. *Must hold a valid Class 1 licence and reliable transport to get to work.
