Visitor Centre Assistant's

We are currently seeking friendly, energetic, and customer-focused individuals to join our Visitor Centre team on a fixed-term basis, working until the end of April 2026.
About the Role: As a Guide / Visitor Centre Assistant, you’ll be part of a dynamic team responsible for ensuring every visitor enjoys the warmth of our manaakitanga (hospitality). You’ll engage with guests throughout our geothermal park, assist with retail services, and share the unique stories and science behind Waiotapu’s wonders. Key Responsibilities: o Welcome and engage with manuhiri, providing exceptional customer service. - Lead and guide visitor groups through the geothermal park, delivering informative and engaging commentary. - Present geyser demonstrations and share knowledge of the area’s natural and cultural history. - Assist visitors with the purchase of tickets and merchandise. - Assist visitors with the capture of photographic memories. - Operate our Point of Sale (POS) system for ticketing and retail transactions.
Job Requirements
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for customer service. - Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with visitors from around the world. - Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, retail, or customer service (preferred but not essential). - Willingness to learn and share knowledge about the Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland. - Flexibility to work across a 7-day roster, including weekends. - Experience in customer service (preferred). - Familiarity with the tourism industry (preferred).

Waiotapu is open 7 days per week, 8.30am – 4.30pm. We are considering applicants for both part-time and full-time roles, with shifts scheduled over a 7-day roster. Immediate start available, and transport from Rotorua is provided daily.
