Police Officer

As a Police Officer (Constable), your primary role is to serve, protect, and support communities by preventing and investigating crime, maintaining public order, and ensuring public safety.

You will be on the frontline dealing with diverse challenges and working alongside communities, government agencies, and internal police teams.

Key Responsibilities / Duties You may be required to perform some or all of the following:

- Patrol on foot, by vehicle, or other transport to maintain a visible and responsive presence - Respond to emergency calls (111 calls) and urgent incidents - Investigate crimes, crashes, domestic disturbances, etc. - Interview complainants, victims, witnesses, and offenders - Collect, preserve, and document evidence - Arrest and detain suspects - Prepare written and verbal reports, case files, and affidavits for court - Give evidence in court - Direct traffic, manage road incidents, and support road safety initiatives - Collaborate with community agencies, iwi, social services, schools, and other stakeholders - Provide crime prevention and public safety advice to individuals, groups, and communities - Maintain order at public events, demonstrations, or gatherings - Operate within legal frameworks, policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct - Use and maintain police equipment and technology (e.g. radios, body cameras, protective gear) - De-escalate conflict, use negotiation and communication skills - Serve across all shifts including nights, weekends, public holidays - Travel between districts or regions if required.
