We're looking for a Kaiarahi Rangatahi to support the wellbeing, leadership, and growth of rangatahi in Otaki. This role involves delivering kaupapa Maori programmes, mentoring young people, and working closely with whanau as they navigate life’s challenges and pursue their goals.

You'll bring a whanau first, tikanga Maori approach to your mahi, grounded in youth development and community connection.

Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

- Design and deliver kaupapa Maori, rangatahi-led programmes. - Facilitate wananga and workshops that support identity and leadership. - Mentor rangatahi one-on-one and manage a small caseload. - Keep clear and accurate case notes. - Support planning and logistics for events and activities. - Build strong relationships with whanau, hapu, iwi, and community. - Participate in local kaupapa and events. - Embed te reo and tikanga into everyday mahi. - Create opportunities for rangatahi to lead.

You will bring:

- Knowledge of Nga Hapu o Otaki. - Strong cultural competency and understanding of kaupapa Maori models. - Comfort with te reo Maori me ona tikanga. - Understanding of kaupapa tuku iho and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. - Familiarity with Maori health models like Te Whare Tapa Wha. - Experience working with rangatahi. - Proficiency with computers and digital tools.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting rangatahi, grounded in kaupapa Maori, and committed to making a real difference for whanau and the wider hapori.

Job Requirements

MUST be able to pass MOJ / Police check MUST hold clean and full driver's licence Flexibility for evening and weekend kaupapa Hold or working towards a social work qualification and willingness to become a registered social worker.

Days of work
Monday to Friday Need to be flexible for evening and weekends (37.5 hours per week)
Pay Details
$58,200 – $78,800 – depending on qualification and experience.
