Kitchen Hand

A Wellington based Catering company are looking for a Kitchen Hand staff that has a positive attitude and is passionate about the hospitality industry to join our team.

Main duties will include:

Assist head chef or supervisor as directed with duties ranging from but limited to:

• Competently prepares the daily kitchen prep requirement: sandwiches, salads, sweet and savoury items, cocktail items, and other function food. • Understand the complexity and importance of diets. • Can competently reheat food. • Prepare workstation, completes all assigned prep-work. • Maintain a sanitised and neatly arranged station. • Assist with general housekeeping (cleaning) within the kitchen area or any other reasonable instruction as direct by the supervisor. • Ensure food wastage is kept to a minimum, quality of work is consistent in method & product as per task shown by the supervisor. • Able to vacuum pack meals. • Ensure Health & Safety guidelines are always followed. • Report any incidents or problems to your immediate Supervisor immediately.

This is a good role for someone who likes to get up early and gets the afternoons free. We don't work Sundays and tend to rotate the Saturdays so that people are regularly getting 2 days off. This role is not far from the Rail station. Need your own transport as starts early at 5am.

• Knowledge of kitchen safety and food hygiene. • Knowledge of cleaning methods and chemicals. • Skill preparing food and using kitchen equipment. • Will need their own transport as starts at 5am • To pass MOJ and drug test. • Able to work as part of a team. • Honest/reliable • Have efficient time management.
